Appleby Manor is a cute little gem nestled into the Cumbrian countryside. It has everything you'd need from a hotel, complete with a jacuzzi/television combo, games room and walking guides galore. We'd definitely recommend booking in for dinner at the restaurant, and not only just for the food - but also the view, which are undulating hills as far as the eye can see. The food was delicious, although what you'd expect for the price. Unfortunately, the swimming pool was closed for renovation so we weren't able to dip our rotund little bodies into a post-meal swim and can't comment on that.
Overall, we loved our stay here. The mini putting lawn brings a whole new meaning to the word 'mini', and admittedly the prices aren't cheap, but Appleby Manor is charming and quaint and if you're looking for a quiet weekend away, you'll find it here. Don't forget to look inside your wardrobe for the tea and coffee tray though.
